  • .hns names open. A Handshake TLD can hand its names to an Ethereum registry (HIP-5), as .hns does for HNS.ID. OBIAN reads the registry and the TLD's own nameservers at once and opens the site in about half a second. Try obian.hns.
  • Agents drawer. An Agents button opens a side drawer of your installed agents: their Tools, Skills and About. Keep it open beside the page across tabs, and resize it. Ctrl+Shift+A toggles it.
  • Add and remove agents from the drawer. Type a .agt name (try demoagent) to install it; remove one with its trash button.
  • Domain prefill. Tool fields that take a domain fill in from the page you're on.

What is OBIAN?
OBIAN is a desktop browser for Windows and Linux that unites the World Wide Web, Decentralized Web, and Agentic Web. Search by website, decentralized name, or agent, and OBIAN finds the naming system it lives on and opens it.
Which names can OBIAN open?
Every ICANN top-level domain, from .com to .zip; every name on the Handshake root, including names Handshake TLDs delegate to Ethereum, like obian.hns; on-chain names from decentralized naming protocols such as ENS (.eth) and Freename; and .agt agent names on the AGT Registry on Polygon, which open as the agent itself, ready to install.
What content can OBIAN load?
Websites over HTTPS, sites published on IPFS, IPNS, and Arweave, and AI agents. Open a .agt name, such as demoagent.agt, and OBIAN loads the agent itself: its verified agent card, with an Install button that adds it to the Agents drawer to run its tools beside any page. The name-bar badge shows which system answered.
How does OBIAN know which naming system a name belongs to?
A built-in router maps each top-level domain to the system that owns it (ICANN TLDs go to DNS, .eth to ENS, .agt to the AGT Registry) and tries the others in turn for anything else. To force one, add a scheme prefix, for example hns://obian for Handshake.
What are .agt agents?
AI agents with on-chain .agt names and manifests signed by their owner. Open one to see its verified agent card, install it into the Agents drawer, and call its MCP tools or A2A skills beside any page. Nothing is sent to an agent until you click Run. Try demoagent.agt.
Do I need a crypto wallet or an IPFS node to use OBIAN?
No. OBIAN reads names straight from their blockchains and fetches IPFS content through a gateway, so there's no wallet to connect and no node to run.
Does OBIAN keep my lookups private?
ICANN name lookups are encrypted with DNS over HTTPS, and OBIAN never falls back to your network's resolver, so they don't go to your internet provider in plain text.
Can OBIAN open Markdown files?
Yes. Open any local .md file, such as AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md, to read it rendered, switch to the raw source, or edit it and save it in place.
Is OBIAN free?
Yes. OBIAN is free to download and use on Windows and Linux.
Why does Windows show a “Windows protected your PC” warning?
Until the installer is code-signed, Microsoft Defender SmartScreen will flag it as coming from an unrecognized publisher. To proceed past the warning dialog, click More info and then Run anyway, and Windows will allow the installer to run as normal. The installer and the resulting application are otherwise standard Tauri and WebView2 binaries.
Is there a macOS version?
Not yet. macOS builds will be available in a future release, once notarization has been set up. Windows (.exe, .msi) and Linux (AppImage, .deb, .rpm) are available now.
